With more than twenty years of experience as a Brazilian lawyer, Luís Wielewicki’s practice is specialized in anticorruption, more specifically in corporate investigations, negotiation of resolution of corporate cases and compliance matters. His background is also based in corporate, financings and capital markets. Hence, its practice is focused on cases that involve Brazilian and foreign corporations with compliance-related issues.
Luís Wielewicki coordinated some of the most relevant corporate investigations of publicly traded Brazilian companies. Its practice also included advising a Brazilian multinational in the first successful conclusion of a monitorship imposed by the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ), the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Brazilian Federal Prosecutors Office (MPF). He has also negotiated important precedents, such as, the first global settlement among Brazilian and U.S. authorities (DoJ, SEC and MPF), the first global settlement simultaneously entered with the MPF, DoJ, SEC and the Brazilian General Attorney’s Office (AGU) and General Comptrollers Office (CGU) and the largest leniency agreement entered as of today by CGU and AGU. He represents various multinationals in the negotiation with Brazilian and foreign authorities in coordination with foreign law firms. He has extensive experience dealing with AGU, CGU, MPF, Brazilian State Prosecutors, the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) and the Brazilian Central Bank (BACEN). Luís Wielewicki has also worked in important project finance, corporate finance and M&A transactions, mainly from the infrastructure sector.
Luís Wielewicki has held prior partner position at Motta, Fernandes Rocha and Sampaio Ferraz, where he was the chairperson of the anticorruption practice. He has also worked at Chadbourne & Parke in New York.
Luís Wielewicki’s practice has been recognized by well-known publications in the last years, such as Chambers and Partners, Who is Who Legal, Legal 500 and the Brazilian Advogados Mais Admirados do Brasil.
Luís Wielewicki has an LL.M degree from Columbia University and a doctorate from the University of São Paulo. He graduated cum laude by the State University of Londrina.
