the firm

wm&t was founded in 2021 by Luís Wielewicki, Rodrigo Maia and Beatriz Trovo. Our practice areas are anticorruption and compliance, corporate law and capital markets.

We exclusively advise companies, investment funds and financial institutions, with an emphasis in publicly traded entities, Brazilian or subsidiaries of foreign multinationals.

We are a boutique firm. We work on complex matters, having acted in some of the most relevant Brazilian cases in the areas we provide legal advice. In the anticorruption area, our practice is focused on internal investigations and negotiation of large-scale cases before Brazilian authorities. We acted in some of the largest corporate investigations in Brazil to date, having advised private local corporations, foreign multinationals, and state-owned entities. We took part in the definition of strategies, negotiation and implementation of some of the largest leniency agreements entered in the country.

We are specially known for advising companies in joint resolutions with Brazilian and foreign authorities (global settlements) in coordination with foreign firms. We have experience in the negotiation of settlements with the Brazilian General Attorneys’ Office (AGU), General Comptrollers’ Office (CGU), Federal Prosecutors’ Office (MPF), Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), Brazilian Central Bank (BACEN) and Offices of State Prosecutors.

We also have vast experience in the corporate and capital markets area. This includes corporate finance and project finance transactional work. We often advise clients in issuance of securities, such as notes issuance and formation of investment funds. We advise local and foreign companies, including financial institutions, in the negotiation and renegotiation of credit facilities. In the corporate field, we advise publicly traded companies in equity transactions, including M&A transactions, and also acting as their disclosing counsel.
